Just purchased my first MG; '06 Breva. I would like to purchase and install the MG heated grip kit that integrates with the bike's electrical system/display. Read somewhere on this and the other forum that there are two different kits available, depending on what kind of switch gear my bike has? Is this the case? I asked a local MG dealer about this and how I determine which kit will fit my bike. They did not know there was more than one but quoted me a price on this kit: GU05678320.

I would appreciate it very much if someone would let me know how I determine which kit I need and how I communicate that to the dealer so that they order the appropriate kit. What should I look for on my bike that differentiates it one from the other?

Thank you.

Hi Wally, welcome.

The dealer should be able to get the right PN by entering the model year in their computer, if not they should call Tech Support, or what ever they call it, and ask MGNA for help. If they are too lame to do that, order from a dealer that knows what they are doing. Moto International and MPH come to mind - I'm sure there are more.

What I can tell you is that the '06 kit comes with an activation button (Better than the '07 IMO) and the '07 does not. The button gets installed adjacent the dash next to the hazard light switch. I think the Norge and the '07 Breva are the same.

Order it then check it for the button before you take it home from the shop...

Maybe, but the 06 Breva uses a heated grips kit different from the Norge. The 05-06 Breva 1100 throttle cables route over the front brake lever, whereas the Norge goes under. You may not think this is important, but the angle that the cable leaves the throttle grip is compromised if you get the wrong one.

I believe the heated grip kit for the 05-06 Breva is 05 67 82 30, not sure where I got this info from, so treat with caution. Very similar to the part number quoted, but not quite.

Just to be clear, I wasn't suggesting substituting the '06 grip kit with the '07 kit. The kits are distinct, and the button in the '06 kit and lack of in the '07 kit is a quick way to tell them apart.
