Hi everyone, for about three weeks now my Cali has developed a loud metallic vibration inside the fuel tank on the pump side. I've lifted the tank to check the mounts and the pump access plate where I've found all seems ok. The noise only developes after the engine has fully warmed and is most noticeable between 2000-3000 rpm. I've looked inside the tank but can see little. I'm concerned that whatever it is could mean the pump is about to fail again! I'm on my second pump so far. I did notice yesterday whilst out on a 200 k ride a moment where there was a drop in power, pinging and sound like pressure to the injectors had dropped- the same thing I heard before the first pump died. After this episode the bike ran fine for another 4 hours.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Marc.

I know it is a pain on these tanks, but it sounds like it is time to pull the pump assembly and do a good inspection of the pump and tank interior. I have picked up an inspection tool that does help and you may want to invest in one. something like this comes in handy http://www.amazon.com/Wall-Inspection-Camera-Color-Monitor/dp/B003629WRQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1414414179&sr=8-5&keywords=Fiber Optic Camera
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm wondering if the new 1400 Cali is any more reliable than these earlier models. I've had this bike in and out of the workshop so much over the last two years I'm considering shooting it. The first fuel pump simply blew up! The pressure regulator was faulty and apparently non Repairable? So I had to buy a new pump. This pump has only been in use for a year and it looks like I'll have to spend more time and money on it. Think I'll go Japanese!
