hello i am new to this site but not new to guzzi, ive had 5 . no dealer anywhere around me so i come here for some help .. i have an 07 griso that has been sitting un touched and not rode in years ( not me ) just bought it , i have repalced the fuel pump not OE but a direct replacement unit ,filter and fuel lines ,removed soaked and cleaned injectors they flow nicely now( i have removed them while cranking to check spray pattern) , new battery, new plugs all 4 new. air filter ,no codes stored no faults via insturment cluster .. the bike will start idel for 20-60 sec and slowly chug then shut off .it will turn over after that but not restart unless you WOT it and then it will start then die out almost in seconds.. if it sits for 10 min or so it will restart and do the same thing .the only thing i can see not factory connected is the evap tank ..the bike wouldnt not start at all untill i repalced the fuel pump.i have no one around that can help out like a dealer with a scan tool . i am a greman auto tech so i know my way around machinics and electrical . any insite would be great ..

Hard to say but sounds like either a fuel flow issue or a tank venting issue.

Start it with the fuel tank cap open and see if that solves your problem. If so a venting issue and most likely a kinked or plugged vent line. If not then a fuel supply issue. That may take a little more investigation but rule out the vent first.

If the replacement pump is not of the same capacity as the original it won't work. On the Aprilia XV forum there have been a couple people who replaced their fuel pump with a cheaper non-OEM pump that was supposed to be a direct replacement. It wasn't, and it didn't work.
That said, what the Canadian said. And also, I would also confirm that the canister removal was done correctly. There are ports / hoses that need to be plugged in that process and there are ports / hoses that need to be left open. Getting that wrong could cause a venting issue creating vacuum in the tank. You could try starting the bike with the gas cap open to see if the tank has venting issues.

I have ran it with the gas cap open . no change . and yes the evap system was removed correctly and the throttle body's have capped and linked to one other . I did have concerns about the fuel pump not being the correct pressure but it rating are the same as the OE pump . I thinking of just ordering another pump . I did also order the data cable and I am trying to find some software so I can check the ECM . I did a loss have concerns about the tip over sensor being faulty . thanks for the info .

If it runs at all, the tip over sensor is probably OK. If it is sending a tipped over reading, she wouldn't even start. Also you should have about 45 psi in the fuel system with the engine running.
