Tuned and Synch'ed
Good day!
n00b here - just getting my feet wet regarding Guzzis.
I initially wanted a Stelvio, but things never seemed to click - '09s were more my style, but the tanks were too small for me [and some melted, I think  ]. The NTXs are nice, but I never get off pavement, so they're somewhat overkill.
Then I saw the Griso 8v...ah, ciao bella!
So, I'm doing some research on the Griso. I love the '12 Griso 8V SE. But new bikes aren't usually my thing - I like to buy used/cheaper. But I don't know enough about the '09 year-model, as 1st-year models aren't my thing, either.
I'm not usually this OCD [ ]; in my world, the research can sometimes be almost as fun as the purchase.
In any event, how do the '09s stack up against the '12s? I love the SE paint scheme, but I've seen a white '09 for sale and the white paint scheme really works for me, too.
It's my understanding that the Guzzis are some of the most easy-to-work-on bikes available. This is good, because if I can swing a purchase, I won't be able to afford to pay someone to do my wrenching for me - and there will be a learning curve.
And, as a bonus question: has anyone mounted aux. lighting on the front of a Griso? It might break up the beautiful lines, but I commute and in CA we can lanesplit - which is mostly safe, if you throw enough trons [light] downrange. So, this is something I'm also very interested in.
[Edit] A second bonus question: no ABS brakes, correct? Coming off of an ST1300 w/linked ABS brakes...I was somewhat spoiled. Any chance it will be offered on future year-models?
Anyway - great site, and I look forward to lurking and picking up as much info as possible before I whip out the checkbook.
Thanks!
