My 1991 1000S runs fine most of the time but has always had an annoying 'hiccup"when riding at slower speeds (slow like betwn 20 to 40mph)as in around town.
I cant remember where I read about the reason for this but bet someone hear knows.Thanks...

It looks like you have the LeMans big valve engine in your bike (40mm Delortos). That engine doesn't much care for slow going at low RPM. If the hiccup is that much of an annoyance, try a lower gear.

At what RPM/gear is this happening? In the proper gear for the speed, this should not be happening, esp if you are not just wacking the throttle wide open. With the big valves/carbs, the bike does better opening the throttle less violently. That said, the throttle response on my big valve 1000S is just fine, esp after rejetting to correct the stock low throttle lean/high throttle rich condition. Also, at what altitude do you live & ride? Stock I found it almost unrideable at higher (over 5000') altitudes, esp at higher RPMs. Again, rejetting cleans this up. Now runs well from sea level to over 8000', which is what I have to deal with near home. Also, any mods to air filter/pipes that might effect jetting needs?

Hey those 1000'S are crap, I'll be glad to take that POS off your hands !

My 1991 LeMans ran like that with K&Ns. I put the stock airbox back on and a K&N filter in the box, and it solved it.
