Tuned and Synch'ed
HI,
I now have 15,000 miles on my Breva 1200 since the end of May 2009. So far it has been tremendous, and a big step up from my previous Guzzi, a California Stone, that covered 46,000 in four years.
The only reaal failure was a snapped tappet adjuster bolt, replaced by the dealer under warranty,he has had two others do the same thing. I have gone a little crazy withe extras, I fitted Helibars as I was getting tennis elbow from the stock riding position, as I haven't played tennis since 1976 I thought that wasn't the cause...... Since fitting them it is much better, and improved when I fitted Guzzi's own overpriced heated grips, as they are thicker, but worth it in the cold.
I have also fitted a Quill T3 endcan getting rid of the catalytic convertor, and saving 3.5 kilos in weight. It runs much better, and still does 200 miles before the fuel light comes on, It hit an indicated 135 on a French auto route this year, which is really 128 according to my Tom Tom satnav, which is less prone to artistic expression !
Other plusses are the Hepco & Becker engine bars, which I found very effective at saving the tank/bars/etc when I came off on the ice in January. I replaced the Hepco 30 litre boxes with 42 litre ones after the crash, and they are vastly better, both in build and capacity. The only other changes are Guzzi's own rear fender extender, and a rear hugger, and I couldn't resist some LED indicators, a total of 96 bright LEDS rather than four feeble bulb filaments.
Overall I am very happy with my Breva, and feel guilty about road testing a Triumph Rocket 3 Touring last week, fantastic engine, which it REALLY needs to pull 800 pounds around, and that's without me as well !
Regards Bobelpfan
