Hello everyone, i have been trying to find out what the break in miles are for the Norge, i am picking one up in Seattle in a few weeks and riding it back to Salt Lake City, approximately 900 + miles and i want to make sure i am not going over the reccomended miles for the first service. I have the manual for it and i think it says that it is set at 900 miles for the first service, i just wanted to make sure. Any response would be appreciated. I can't wait to get it

think you are correct on the 900 miles. Just make sure the service is done fully as soon as you arrive back home.

Yup, that's (900 mi) what I am planning on for my first service - I just brought my new Norge home two days ago. Already have the appt set! I have 300 mi on it already, and liking it quite well! Looks like your ride home will be perfect!

Thanks for the responses guys, can't wait to get it on the road

Be sure to vary your speed. Also hard pulls will help to seat the rings. Do keep the RPM limits in mind the first 500 miles, but still do the hard pulls early on.

Last fall I picked up a "new" 2014 Stelvio in Seattle and rode it home to Buffalo, Wyoming, via I-90. The trip was just under 1000 miles. As soon as I got it home it went on the lift for oil, valve adjustment, etc. The valves required no adjustment and it had used virtually no oil. Shortly there after I rode it out to Southern California so it could visit with Todd. I managed to get it up to 4,000 miles before it got laid up for winter.

The ride home from Seattle seems to have been the perfect break-in. The first 100 miles or so traffic was thick so the speeds got varied a LOT. After that, some of the driving was gentle and some a bit less so going over mountain passes. Speed varied between 55 and 75. The bike is still running well and no signs of excessive oil usage. I am running 10w-60 Redline oil.

This is my second Moto Guzzi. No significant problems so far.
