Hey everyone,

I recently did the initial 620 mile service and I noticed that my valves got WAY louder after head re-torque and valve adjust. The valves we're definitely tight before-hand. Does the tapping in the video sound okay? Or do you think I may have them a bit too loose.

I've done valve adjustments before on a vulcan 500 and TW200 so I have an okay feel on loose-tight, but I definitely errored closer to the looser side of things (I'm used to there being a "range" like .15mm to .18mm, not just one set number)

Also, I noticed that my low-beam headlight does not work, however my high beam does. I think that the bulb may be burned out (I have not tried to replace it yet) but does anyone think that this could be an electrical issue as well? I checked my charging system at the battery and I have not seen higher then 14.65 so far.

Thank you for your inputs!

sounds a bit noisy to me
Are you sure that you were at TDC Firing when you set the valves? Was the engine cold? (had not been run in the past four or more hours)
From the service manual:
Intake: 0.15 mm (0.0059 in) (when
cold)

Outlet: 0.20 mm (0.0079 in) (when
cold)

I used the straw in cylinder to gauge tdc after the intake valve closed. I had not run the engine for 3 days either. I did use .006 and .008 for the valves but if it seems noisy to the more experienced I will have to re-check them.

headlight probably just a bad one but keep checking the voltage for a while. I'm not sure when my 15 started over charging but it was for sure by 1500 miles. some mfg's will warranty a headlight some don't check the owner's manual.
valves sound loose. get a round pencil instead of a straw. get the rear wheel off the ground in 5th gear and turn the wheel until the intake (one closest to the injector, sorry had to make sure) has gone down then come up and has quit coming up. then stick in the straw or pencil and slowly tap the wheel until the straw stops coming up. thats TDC on the compression stroke. 6 intake & 8 exhaust thousands is correct.
