after a great many hours running down short and a faulty switch on the handlebar. I have spark but only 1 side
the coils checked out the wire you checked out I just have nothing on the 1 side suggestions ?

through trial and error I've narrowed it down to 1 thing it has like twins bark control computers mount it on the rear fender I'd switch the wiring in that seems to be the problem
the next question is who would you recommend getting this from ? and what is it ?

Are all the connections free of corrosion? How far back have you traced the lack of spark, ie. spark plug, spark plug wire, coil, distributor?
Are you running points in the distributor or is it electronic ignition? If points, check condensers and point gap, if electronic check the connector for corrosion or water intrusion..

Are you sure it isn't fuel.... In Montana ya don't know what you are getting out of an underground tank in the middle of nowhere Montana. I have had to drop the bowls many a time on my 850T because of dirty fuel.

No points. I have narrowed it down to the motoplat box. When switched over is sparks on other side. Hey they are only 250$.

Stein Dinse do them individually , maybe some of the american suppliers do too...
Took mine off and fitted the ZDG ignition system from germany as after all those years something else was bound to go wrong in the rest of the motoplatt system !!!!
Cliff jeffries also does a build yor own ignition box which can use the original triggering system and is the cheapest possible way around motoplatt trouble...you need to search closely on his site and have the ability to assemble it to get it at the cheapest price :p

FWIW, I installed a Dyna III Electronic Ignition in my '89 Mille back in '91. Have not had a problem with it since - about 50K miles on it.
