2004 California EV Touring Fuel Tank Removal

The fuel line connector can be finicky as you've likely read here. Push the fuel line towards the fitting while pulling back on the gray ring. Wiggle it side to side lightly as you pull rearwards. It does not take much force, however some are a bit of a pain, just be patient. It has also been suggested that if the quick disconnect doesn't want to come off, de-pressurising the fuel line by disconnecting the pump electrical connector, and then cycling the starter a few times can be of great assistance. Take care with the removal of the "Quick Disconnect' as the elbow it fits on is NOT available as a separate part.

Thank you very much. The bike let me down on while I was riding home on Saturday. It would start but would not respond to throttle and would not take any load. I'm hoping it's the pick-up line or the filter. I see an all steel one is available vs. the steel/plastic one.

I gave up fussing with the cheap OEM fuel line quick connect on my hydro Stones. beemerboneyard.com sells a dandy chromed brass quick connect of the right barb diameter that is incredibly easy to use. You have to connect a short length of hose onto the red plastic elbow coming from the tank "door". Connect one end of the new unit to that hose and the other end to the remaining OEM hose that goes to the "Y" junction to the throttle bodies. Cost of the new unit is about $45 with postage.

Thank you very much for this helpful tip. We got the bike running last week, but it took some doing to get that connector off in order to remove the tank. I like the addition of that short length of hose because that would allow the tank to be maneuvered more during removal. Unfortunately that won't help removal and reinstallation of the fuel pump etc., which was a real pain. We found that the line from the discharge end of the fuel filter had come off; pumped fuel was never leaving the tank. Instead of just reconnecting the fuel line to the filter, we replaced that chunk of regular fuel line with fuel injection line and used a fuel injection clamp to secure it to the filter. The cost of the injection line and clamp was less than 10 bucks; would have been cheaper if they would have sold less than a foot of line.

Somewhere, I read that you can order a Fuel spigot Aprilia AP8104192, for a Pegaso 650 IE. It would be great to get this confirmed by someone who has actually ordered one.
