Time for the 12,000 mile service on my Guzzi and the inner spark plugs are giving me fits. Seems the two deep set sockets I have (Craftsman)are too thick to fit between the fins and undo the spark plugs. Does anyone have a suggestion or particular brand used to pull out the inner spark plugs? It is hard to believe the factory would have cut the access with so little clearance.

Yes, I originally offered up some lathe-turned Craftsman sockets here ions ago, but it looks like you can get them pretty cheap these days; http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sxt-884504?seid=srese1&gclid=COax47uk6coCFYSBaQodiCwDOw -- verify the size 16mm~5/8" plug. From memory that's correct.
Todd,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have placed an order for the part from summit racing and hope it works.

Oh yeah, I believe the original owner of this Guzzi had you do some work on it for him. The bike has Guzzitech.com stickers, a Power Commander III and several modifications. Would be interested what else you might have helped out with?

Thanks for a great site and wonderful place for those of us with a Moto Guzzi to swap information and look for equipment.

Before you pull the plugs, clean the area with compressed air. Plenty of stuff ends up there that you don't want falling into the combustion chamber. Also a little anti seize on the replacement plugs is good. I stick a piece of fuel line on the end of the plug to start threading it into the head. It is one you don't want to cross thread.
