Hello brothers, I have one year already 2008 Moto Guzzi Norge at 32000 km.
After I'm stopping at home, smells of melted acetate plastic from right opening between steering bar and the tank.
Somewhere under the need of the RHS front tank section.
During riding is OK.
I did changed the air filter, oils, new clear tube from air box for oil drain as well.
I noticed some minor melting on the upper left corner of the breather box, where touches the foam of the fuel tank. Insolated the fuel tank below with aluminum foil. Fuel line only is under the tank.
Any melting experiences from you guys?

Just saw yours.

I had a 2007 Norge until a few months ago.

Sold it -- and, darn, I miss it -- with c.82K miles.

The only times I can recall the smell of burning plastic were when:

* I "acquired" a plastic bag while riding; :swear:

* Once, and that before (and why) I removed the PITA "lower lowers" to check the oil and managed to engage a very hot header pipe with a bit of the tupperware;

* Had a short in a self-inflicted wiring SNAFU.

Otherwise nada. I am impressed you pulled the air box to check.

Best wishes on finding the caus.,

Bill

Thank you Bill, I'll dig more to find the reason, still smelling. Doubts about air breathing from timing chain camera or oil pan.
Thinking to replace all breather pipes going out of the breather box.
Angel

P.S. Do not hate me please, I do not know what is PITA and SNAFU
