Hello,
Does anyone have any knowledge of possible changes or updates to the 2010 STELVIO?
Thanks,John

John, covered in an article in this section, the 2010 will get an updated camshaft, on NTX's currently being sold(?), better tuned for mid-range power. That, and camshaft and lifters with proper hardening we'll have to assume. :S
The NTX (not headed to the U.S. as of right now) has a 4.5" rear rim w/150/70 tire for a better off-road tire selection compared to the 5.5" 180/55 stock S.

Otherwise, assume no other major changes.

Doesn't the 2009 Stelvio Normale already have the same engine and other upgrades as the NTX??

Expect the 2010 models to be adapted to E10 fuel, and if you're lucky, E15. The logical update for a 2010 model would of course be a larger tank :silly:

The 2012 model will undoubtedly receive Euro-4 homologation, the 2015 model Euro-5 :S

Then you really will need a bigger tamk.

No.

It has already been reported that Ethanol based fuel gives fewer miles per gallon, and all the extrasthey add to make it Euro iv etc, always use fuel some way or other.
All bikes are far more thirsty beasts now than they were 10 years ago.

I believe you are correct Brian, if I'm not mistaken Ethanol contains less energy per unit of measure than gasoline.

Smoke and mirrors. Less fossil fuel per gallon, but takes more of it to get from point a to point b. And it costs way more to boot. Zero sum game at best, except for the cost, where we consumers once again take it in the tailpipe!! (Thanks, government jerks!!)

Put another way, less gasoline in the fuel, but more fuel burned per mile traveled. Plus all the costs to adapt technology to run the crap anywhere nearly as well as it runs REAL go-juice (all the while losing longevity of fuel lines and other vulnerable parts.

If God wanted us to use ethanol as fuel, He'd have made our cars run on BEER!

To John In Pa: Yes! Well said. Ethanol cost more to make, has less energy and we the taxpayers suppliment it. I on the other hand run just fine on beer. Go figure.

Alcohol has much less energy density than gasoline. If I remember correctly, on the order of 25 percent less. So a gallon of alcohol will get 25 percent less mileage than a gallon of gasoline. All gasoline and ethanol blends get fewer miles per gallon than straight gasoline. You don't put ethanol in gas to improve mileage - you do it to put money into the pockets of very large corporations like Archer Daniels Midlands and to make politicians and other no-nothing folks happy that they have doen something for the environment.

Except if we all have to burn more fuel to go the same distance, we actually emit more carbon dioxide from the tailpipe. Not to mention the fuel expended to make the alcohol - which at present is more than one gallon of oil based fuel for each gallon of alcohol. Alcohol in fuel is bad science and worse public policy.

Interesting how an air-cooled motor will cope? Im guessing more oil cooling??
OZ should get them about 2020 ;)
