2013 MG Cali 1400 Tourer

I have to admit it is growing on me. When I first saw it I was not digging it all but now I'm wondering what kind of trade I could get on the 2011 Black Eagle. I would have to ride it though.

I would consider it a miracle if MGNA displayed one at the US motorcycle show (the one that travels around the country) this winter. I would, at least, love to sit on one.

According to Corsa Italiana's website the new Cali is due here in the UK by the end of October. No price as yet.

Handsome bike, I love the rear mudguard.
Will the pots fit on my Stelvio :woohoo: 1400 Stelvio!!

i really like the look of the gas tank cutout for the cylinder.

Once again Guzzi comes late to the party and under powered..

Once again Guzzi comes late to the party and under powered.

Guzzi's history is weird. The engine they're known for is was used by a dozen makers before them. They had only used it in a 3 wheeled tractor. And a hand full of indispensable features on almost every motorcycle made since 1950 were innovated by MG. Sorta like an ass backwards Johnny come lately.

Being late or early seems not to have any bearing on success. Steve Jobs picked up GUI from Xerox and MS didn't get on board for another 10 years. Harley is still doing the same old thing and they're rollin in the dough.

Funny, I've only seen one or two if these bikes (Thunderbird) on the road in the last 2 years. And two years is hardly a jump on Guzzi the Japanese have been making H-D knock offs since the tariffs to save H-D. I don't think its put a dent in the Harley wannabe market, but we had a flat bike market for four years, so that's probably it. Anyone have any figures on the sales?

As for the power, my buddy bought a 139hp Triumph ST because the magazines said it was the best thing since sliced bread. Well, he doesn't come close to using half of the power of the bike. My guess is that most people riding cruiser style bikes or most bike for that matter are just tooling around. Most Guzzisti put handling above power and beauty comes in a close second.

As for the looks, the chunky Tbird makes the fat 1400 Cali look svelte! Even with the Soviet gas tank! Tbird is nothing special to look at - an H-D is much purdier. Can't wait for the road test comparison of the two. But I'm afraid that the economy will have more to say about success than merit - we'll see.
