Has anyone found a replacement for the V7 horn. It's pretty pathetic. My scooter horn is twice as loud. Thanks

Try a search on "horn" there are several threads on upgrading them. You just have to find one, or a pair you can get to mount somewhere. I've upgraded the horns on every bike we have. Not difficult.

Esthetics play a role in horn selection as well. Most prefer the look of the round pancake style that comes stock on the V7. It is a retro look that complements the styling. I prefer function over fashion so I replaced my 2011 V7 horns with a pair of Fiamm AM80S Highway Blasters from a BMW. They certainly sound loud but maybe the shape does not agree with everyone's sense of style for that motorcycle.

?what?
I can't hear you.
?Did you just beep-beep me?
How quaint.

~ I'm thinking of converting to a paintball gun.

I've looked at these. A couple of questions. Were you able to retain all the stock wiring, fusing, etc? These horns seem to be rated at 9A; the stock fuse is only 10A and includes some lighting. Did you need at add a relay to keep the switch from frying itself? Any issues with water getting in?

Relays are always good when adding accessory horns. With full battery voltage to the horns, they will even work better. Like Nike says, just do it.

Yes, I added a relay and separate wiring to a fuse block to handle the extra load. I used the OEM horn wiring to operate the relay. I made a small auxiliary fuse block from a design I found on a local discussion board:

As for water, I mounted the horns so that the mouth of the horn faces down towards the ground. It is highly improbable for water to enter the horn under normal riding in rain, although not impossible.
