Hi guys,

i have an issue with my bike. It dies while I am riding. The issue has been somewhat consistent when I go from second to third gear the motor immediately dies. When stopped, I can turn on the motor again but the issue pops up again going from second to third. I got the message on the cluster image below.

Is it 2nd to 3rd or 2nd to 1st. If its the latter it passes through the neutral switch, that is tied up with the side stand and clutch switch and that will stop the engine if there's a problem there. just a thought.
Sorry about that. Going from second to third gear.

I would suggest looking closely at the side stand switch, and the side stand springs. If the springs allow the side stand to move, it could shut the bike down.
I’ve heard of that happening but it’s really specifically timed going to second to third gear. I rode it back and forth on the same block and it’s always the same

Someone at another group had mentioned that it could be a lose fuse or relay because of the alarm reading. I check hopefully this weekend

My V7 stone has an issue that it stalls & restarts after it’s warmed-up. From a cold engine, it’s fine and as long as i can press on the throttle it runs. When i am stopped at idling or costing to come to a stop light, the bike shuts-off or restarts. I had taken it to a Guzzi tech and first they told me a flash of the ecu would do. Afterwards, they told me that I need a new ecu and speed sensor. In order to avoid the huge ticket, i did the work myself. I changed the crank sensor (not sure what he meant on speed sensor as he talked about the speed of the engine) and installed a new throttle/ecu to the bike but the problem persist. Any help is appreciated.

Still doing this?
Mileage?
What codes if any did it throw?
How old is the fuel in tank?
How is the charging system?

This has to be the biggest fluke I’ve ever heard. I ended up taking it to two bike shops one a guzzi dealership and both couldn’t figure out the problem. The guzzi dealership said that I needed to change the ecu which i ended up doing but i still had the same issue. So the day before, I was going to take it to a third shop, i check the Ignition coil as the bike had fallen. It seem no one checked, the coil wire was damaged. Ever since, I’ve been riding with no issues but the kicker is the second i place the coil cover. The issue comes back. I’ve ordered the coil wire from af1racing but still waiting. Would love to know what exactly is happening. I am thinking that The plate creates ground.

Did the plug wires look like that when you brought it to your mechanic!?
Or is that a new issue and it was dropped after?

this is the issue 100%. it wasn't the ECU. even though I changed it, it still had the issue until i took off the coil cover. this has been the only difference. Ive rode it for 3 weeks, road and highway and its been great. I tested it this past weekend. I used electrical tape and put the cover back on. the bike only lasted several blocks before it stalled and gave me the same error as before. So for sure the guzzi dealer wanted me to buy a new ECU for nothing. the charge was 2,300 for the part and labor. this I am taken aback. I would understand a regular shop but I would have been taken advantage if I didn't do the work myself. it was as simple of unscrewing 4 screws. I would do anything to know what exactly happens when I put the cover. Hoping to get these parts in anytime soon. only then I will truly know.
