Got the filter and 20-50 air cooled Mobil one. Should I replace gasket or crush filters this time or next oil change?? How about tranny oil? And rear tranfer case oil?? Does anybody have a easy way to change tranny oil??

Replacing gaskets and crush washers depends on condition. To be safe, replace them. Also the o-ring for the filter cover. No easy way to drain the transmission (gearbox) oil that I'm aware of. Yes, it would be a good idea to replace all the oils at the first 6,000 mile service.

OK got oil and rear end case changed. Guess what no washers or gaskets at dealer, lucky to get oil filter. Changed it and ran it 10 ten miles and no leaks. Next time I will replace all. Now for the trans oil. The dealer used BMW syn 20-50 on first oil change. $12 a quart. I used Mobil one 20-50 syn for air cooled engines $8 a quart. Syntech 75-90 syn in rear transfer case. Great bike it just purrs and less noise than BMW oil. Dealer wants $200 for oil change.

Where are you located ? 200 bucks for an oil change ???? Pleezze, While Mobil 1 20W50 is a good oil, it is not SG rated and if your dealer used it he is .... well let's not get into that. do a search on SG rated oil, ZDDP and flat tappet cams which your V7C and ALL Guzzi motors have for an explanation.
Moto Guzzi / Piaggio recommends AGIP 10w60 4T syn because it is 1. SG rated 2. covers the extreme temperatures your V7C motor as well as mine will be subject to. 3. they probably get a huge discount from AGIP for using and recommending their oil. Redline , Mortorex 4T 10w60 will be fine as well. Redline heavy duty Shock Proof Gear oil in tranny and rear end will do the job very well.

If you don't plan to keep your Guzzi or ride it for an extended period of time then disregard the above.

I've got to agree with Draidt, at $200 a pop it's best to do your own fluid change. All the maintenance on the V7C is easy, especially with the engine's old-school design. It's a pleasure to work on.

Enjoy the ride!

The tranny oil is easy. Loosen the clamps that hold the crossover pipe, then you can rotate it so that it is more out of the way. You may have to disconnect the O2 sensor (connection is by the stater-mine was hidden behind it) in order to rotate the crossover pipe, depending on wire length.
You can then get the tranny drain bolt out easily. The filler hole is on the bike's right side. I used a funnel with a hose on the end to fill it. I measured the amount of fluid before I poured it in.

Be sure to plug in the O2 sensor BEFORE to turn the bike on, otherwise you may cause an ECU error that will cause the bike to go into limp mode, and it will run horribly. I forgot to do this, and had to go to the dealer (Rosefarm Classics) to have him remove the error codes.
Jim at Rosefarm also told me you should unhook the battery and disconnect the ECU before unplugging or plugging in any sensors. Since he has 25+ years as a Guzzi mechanic, I have no reason to doubt him.

The Mobil one 20-50 aircooled syn. is rated API -SG,SH/CF JASCO MA. Same as BMW syn. that the dealer puts into Guzzi,s. I think Castrol makes the BMW syn. oil. Mobil one aircooled 20-50 w is great oil for the Guzzi. Overkill for the primative old school V-twin,but good insurance and will make it long lasting. Anything more is splitting hairs and makes for good hard headed wild-goose debate. Its Italian like a Ferrari not American like a tractor. I use to be a Harley owner till I saw that was true.
