Thanks .I have the spring and it doesn't stay in place .I will take a look at the other spring today to see how it is supposed to work but am guessing I will need a new brush assembly.no, not related to wear in my book, to me it looks like a bad install by PO
once you get a new / find the old spring, mount it on its flat peg and youll see that it still exerts pressure on the lip of its groove, even without a brush.
