Mine started rattling yesterday. "Heavens to Betsy" I thought. "Perhaps I'll now get the chance to find out whay they are going tits-up!" Alas it was only a loose exhaust pipe bracket.

DAMN!!!!!

(Sorry Steve, I'm NOT laughing at your misfortune, simply trying to make people see that the failures are a comparatively rare occurrence and not something that should put off prospective purchasers.)

Gary, it is happening in Oz, or has happened. I'm not trying to say it hasn't, just simply saying that it is rare and I don't think there is a design problem.

I'm as keen, if not keener, than anyone to find something concrete that will allow this to be put to bed but my bike, like the vast majority of them, remains stubbornly reliable. I can't make a diagnosis until I've seen some broken bits and had them tested. Most folks who have seen it first hand are suggesting a hardening problem and that may well be the case but you can't CATEGORICALLY say that that is the problem until you have had the parts hardness tested and I haven't yet seen ANYBODY say that they've had this done or seen a written report from an engineering firm or organization that specializes in metalurgical problems. Hence my desire to get my hands on some failed bits so I can take them to the Oz Mint and get them tested, at my own expense mind.

So far there has been NO feedback from the factory on this, not even a mention of it on the technical website. Who whould you rather trust to give an accurate report on the issue? The place that makes the stuff and therefore has a lot of face to loose by admitting they screwed up, (If they ever do admit it.) or an independent organization with no axe to grind? I know which one I'd take but perhaps I'm just stupid.

Lol, No worries Pete ;)

I Just hope the factory find a solution quickly. It's a bit bad not having any wheels to get around on :(

If I've not got the bike back by the end of the week, I'll be looking for something else to get me about.

I must say...The Speed triple is starting to look very tempting....

which, if it's your only transport, I would agree with.

Having said that when i was very impecunious 25 years ago in England I always had a Honda C50/70/90 on hand for commuting duties. There are much better things around to do the job nowadays but the C90 is still a top commuting vehicle. Mine broke down once, it took me ages to work out it had run out of petrol!
