Repalcing the front shock seals...I have the seak in and have the right size 'driver' to help 'tap' it into place and it has gone in nicely except...there is slightly less then 1/16th gap on the bottom of the seal where it looks like it should seat on the little 'ridge' below that the seal should (I think) sit on. I've done some pretty strong 'tapping' on it to get it to seat all the way down but am hesitating to tap harder as I dont want to damage the dang seal. It is in level...and the gap is the same all the way round. Does the 'gap' leave open the possibility of leakage or should I leave it alone and reassemble it as is. I have given it some pretty hard bhlows and it does not seem to want to go any further.

Thanks

The EV has a "cir-clip" of sorts that holds the seal in... can you get this on without it touching the seal? Is the fork seal a factory replacement, or aftermarket. A picture is always best as well.

I am going to be cursing the rest of the day...possibly all week.

There is a spacer that goes under the seal. I left it under the old seal on the workbench and forgot to put it back in. If I had put it in the seal would be seating fine.

I am just so damn mad right now I could chew glass.

Thanks for your help.

Yes there is... check the Parts Manual. There's a big flat washer, then seal, then clip. Downside is that you'll have to destroy the seals to get them out. I can get you a new set for $30+ shipping if you need them.
