After the first 400 miles a better rear shock may be something I look into.

Initial thought after 400 miles or so. Generally I just set sag as close as I can and call that it, and that's all I may do on this bike after I give the shock more time to break in. But my initial feeling is I'll want to change it because the ride on rough pavement and dirt/gravel roads is pretty harsh. There's no compression adjustment, if there were I'd back it off a good bit. The front has no compression adjustment either but isn't so harsh.

Oh, you have the new Stelvio then. I forgot. My brain thought I was in the V100 section. I am a Bonehead Idiot. 😆

I haven’t checked so I don’t know but are your front forks fully adjustable?

Guess not…

“A Sachs 46mm inverted fork strokes through 6.7 inches of travel and is adjustable for rebound damping and spring preload. At the rear a KYB shock is adjustable for rebound damping and features an external spring preload adjustment knob. It’s attached to a single-sided swingarm and offers 6.7 inches of wheel travel.”

What a shame given the full adjustability on my Stelvio NTX. I love the 8.5 gallons of fuel as well.

I just don’t feel that the new Stelvio is as competent an Adventure motorcycle as the NTX although it does have the new engine and running gear.

I will be very interested in your long term comments and opinions. 👌👍🙏

Seems it could take some time to adjust to the fact that there are two V100s now and (I’ve heard) a third on the way!

Matris (which GTM is a dealer for, via the STORE tab above) is working on this as we write. I'll start a new thread once they make the announcement.

@Clinton I just caught a video from a French owner who got better ride quality by turning the rebound damping screws a half turn anti-clockwise both front and rear. Worth trying perhaps (as you said, reduced compression damping would be a more intuitive solution 🤔)

I can vouch for the harshness of the suspension after also about 400 miles. Will definitely look into the Matris option whenever it's available here. It's really my biggest complaint about the bike so far; otherwise it's pretty fantastic.
