I really like my V7C, but hate the stock seat. For me, it is too low and too soft. Is anyone making a higher, firmer seat? If so, anyone have any feedback?

angela

The V7 Cafe seat is a direct snap in, I put one on mine and find it way better the the 2x6 plank original seat. Of course if you do 2 up then disregard.

Nice Sporti in your Avatar pic BTW

I considered the solo seat, but it isn't high enough for me. Sargent said they will do one, but it seems iffy that I may get exactly what I'm looking for.

I plan on selling the Sport 1100. Hate to see it go, but I'm just not riding it now.

I am not happy with the regular seat or the cafe, both after 100 miles are useless. Contacted Corbin via face book and they said if anyone with a V7C lives near their shop in Hollister(I think that is how you spell it :? ) come by and they will see about making one. For now I use a sheep skin on the stock seat and it is a little better.

I thought the seat on the Café was pretty awful after a 460 mile ride one day. More likely, it's position. I put on rearsets which dramatically shifted where the weight of my body transferred to the seat and that made a world of difference to me. I also lowered the bars to further lean my body forward. I realize that this doesn't strictly apply to the Classic but you might want to re-evaluate where you're going with your modifications with the additional information. I personally don't think the stock foot control positions are suitable for a bike that small - they limit where you can shift your position on the seat.

I agree about the footrest position, it should be back a touch but it's typically Italian...forward controls and clip ons. End up looking like the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Re the seat; why don't you have your local custom seat builder sort it out for you? They can usually recommend and fit alternative density foam, gel pads, etc. I'm assuming you're in the US where there are supposed to be loads of customisers doing this sort of stuff.

I was going to get a custom seat, but realized that I needed to pack my gear differently so on long rides I could move around and get into different positions.

An idea, since custom seats are $$$

I went to someone locally www.diannasshop.com

she was able to use extra firm memory foam that increased the seat height without having to create a new seat cover. It is much better than stock. I think I still want to go higher, but will have to have her create a new seat cover. If I do this, I'll post photos of it if anyone else is interested.

Thanks for your help,

angela

New V7 Classic rider here. Thrilled with the bike, just looking forward to getting my re-flashed ECU back from Todd tomorrow. I would like to get a Cafe solo seat. Where is the best place to order one or does one of you have one for sale?

Can order a cafe seat from any dealer, or from the several dealers that do a large mail order business (Harpers, MG Cycle, Moto Int, etc).

I'm interested in how you like the re-flash.

Joe

Seat was $178 from my friendly local dealer.

As for the re-flash, I am more than pleased. I wasn't expecting overwhelming differences, the V7C is not that kind of machine. What I have now is a bike that behaves just as a great bike should. Slow speed, small throttle opening maneuvers are smooth, mid range roll-ons are strong, no pinging or popping. After an initial ride the thing that strikes me most is how strong the bike feels coming up over 4K RPM. That sort of luggy zone below 4K isn't much different but in contrast I now want to keep the revs up and cruse in a gear lower just to appreciate how responsive the bike feels.

I am only slightly displeased with the seat on my 1200 Sport. It has become my favorite bike to ride and tour on. I would like a different material (so my butt doesn't stick on hot days) and something firmer. Anybody on here have luck with a local auto upholstery shop??
