Ciao a tutti

As many people are now aware Alis and Lindy Agostini have sold the historic, landmark Moto Guzzi dealership in Mandello del Lario to Mr.Alberto Agliati and partners.

Some 5 years ago when Alis needed a hand with the English language customers I volunteered to help out for a few months. As things turned out I helped out for much longer! When Alberto took over I offered to stay until my replacement settled in. Mr. Nicola Arnaudo has now taken over my role within the company. Nicola is a local Guzzi enthusiast who speaks and writes English but is also able to handle the Italian customers at the counter and on the telephone.

As of the end of June I will be returning to "retirement" - not that I have any shortage of things to do!!!

Alis is still working part time until Alberto is completely settled in - but this moment is approaching quickly.

Now that Alis is no longer managing the business we expect to have much more time to pursue our various interests: sailing on beautiful Lake Como, looking after the vegetable garden and relaxing in the mountains (for this read escaping from the summer heat), and, not to forget, travel. If I have any time left over there are some bikes that need restoring. These include an ancient 250 Moto Guzzi P and Duilio's 'red frame' race bike.

I would like to take this opportunity, also on behalf of Alis, to thank you all and to wish everyone all the best for the future.
If you happen to be in Mandello anytime it will be our pleasure to be able to have a coffee together so please do not hesitate to contact us, our email is alisagos at alice.it - but please do not forget that we are out of Moto Guzzi business!

Got the same email.

Well, this is the beginning of the end of an era, it seems, eh?

Anyway, Todd, it seems Peter is moving on too ;)

Wishing the best for the Agostinis and Peter.

It's a really nice store to visit and they've always been extremely helpful; hope it will remain so in the future.

We booked a Stelvio for our trip in September from them. I checked in with Alis to make sure I didn't have to redo the booking.

This is the response back...

"Do not worry Doug. Nothing has changed and I am still working there part time. The shop will remain named Agostini. Alby -new owner- is a nice guy and if the word had not been spread around I believe that nobody would realize the change! Take care, Alis"

According to the Agostini website, Alby has a connection to Agostini's and is resident of Mandello. Hopefully he'll keep the Guzzi passion alive.

Alby's a good guy. And, after working 30 years in the shop, I wouldn't try to inject anything more into Alis' leaving than the simple (and understandable) fact that she's leaving the business after 30 years.
