Am I Imagining This?

While doing a routine service on my V7III I decided to use the slightly looser valve clearance of .006 and .008 that has been termed "Euro spec".
The engine seemed more responsive on a couple of rides since then, particularly in terms of mid-throttle response. My bike has Todd's re-map, Leo Vince cans, evap delete and SAS kit but is otherwise stock.

I was surprised and happy that I noticed ANY difference but I kind of wonder if it's just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm not sure of the specifics, but when my valves got adjusted to "Euro" spec I also felt like the engine was more responsive. Perhaps Todd or Scott will chime in and let us know if it's real or our imaginations. :D

It is possible…

However, without Dyno runs with hard data, to either confirm or deny, it’s all just semantics and seat of the pants sensation.

Personally, if it feels better to you, and it’s one of the specifications that Moto Guzzi stipulates, I say “Have at it!” if it makes you happy. 😆

I went through this same thing when I readjusted the valves on a old Dodge flathead 6 I had rebuilt. It also got rid of the little flutter I had on the vacuum gauge. My thoughts were that with the tighter gapping the valves weren't seating correctly/fully on a hot engine?? If it wasn't for the flutter change on my gauge I would have just written it off as the Oil change ( runs better ) Syndrome

I think I'll just bask in the glow of unintended improvements. Like some of my pals in San Diego used to say, "if you think it makes a difference, it does.":)

The amount of money people are willing to spend in pursuit of 5 lousy hp at the top of the RPM range, is often times, simply staggering...

Me, I prefer "rideability" over horsepower. How smooth does the motorcycle run. How even and uniform is the transition from power on to power off, and everywhere in between. These are the things that have value to me. :) 👌 👍 🙏

THIS
Especially as performance improvements like that could be better achieved by the operator loosing a stone .... myself included:D

For people that Don't understand * English* losing a Stone would be a measure of weight = 14lbs...

I was confused initially - I though he was talking about Changing Motorcycles from a V7 Stone to a ....
