I was just wondering if any one in the GTA has managed to locate a 14 flute 74 mm Oil Filter Cup Wrench for there Guzzi in the GTA or there abouts as I am having zero luck with locating one and most on line deliveries will take two weeks and I would really like to get it done so I can head out on a trip on Friday.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
(And no the dealer is not an option as I do all my own work)

Cheers

Tried that one John, the automotive centre at Sears stated that they can not order a lot of the stuff showing on line and that I would have to order direct. Our Sears auto centres pale in comparison to yours, when ever I am in Buffalo I always check out Sears to see if they have any tool sales on(not that I really need anything, apart from this cup wrench, just a bit of a tool collector)

Yes I spotted that unfortunately our friends at the CCRA(Canada Customs and Revenue Agency) would guarantee it doesn't make it here on time, would probably be a couple of weeks before I actually had it in my hands. Thanks for the input

Next option. Use a Bosch 3330 oil filter. Go to your local BMW motorcycle dealer and as for a filter wrench for an R1100. It fits the Bosch perfectly. BTW, the 3330 is the same filter as the Toyota Tundra. Get the old filter off any way you can. If necessary get one of the three leg filter wrenches or a coil type that tightens when you try to twist off. BTW, the torque spec for the oil filter is 15Nm. I like to use grease on the filter seal instead of oil. It make removal easier. Good luck.

It has been taken care of, thanks for all the input. My friends son works as a mech at a Toyota dealership and he borrowed a 74 mm Filter Socket from the dealers kit and I got it done. Have one on order and should be here by the end of next week.

Brian, not really sure how you would manage to get a set of Oil Filter Channel Locks securely onto this Filter considering the recess it lives in, would more than likely mangle the crap out of it

Cheers

I didnt read where your filter was in a recess, my bad. You may want to consider the K&N filter with the 17mm bolthead built into the filter housing. They work well if the filter is torqued properly upon installation.

I go with a Hi Flo HF551 errm 7 flute i think.. you can get a wrench anywhere to fit it..

Looking at the date of your post, I guess you got it sorted out. I went through the same filter wrench quest for my 2012 Norge. For those of you that are having the same difficulty in the GTA, you can order one from Dual Sport Plus at 221 Barton Street in Stoney Creek. I got mine in three days, and it was less than $15.00.

Another option for those reading this thread.

This filter size is used on various Harleys. I was on a ride last years when one of the fellow's 12S started leaking. Turns out he forgot to tighten the filter. We stopped by a HD dealer and we were on our way in minutes. It was $20 and made of milled aluminum. I also seen one on amazon for $6.
