Tuned and Synch'ed
On the UK 1200 Sport web-site there are numerous posts on handlebar replacement for that motorbike. There doesn't seem to be a lot of Sport owners here in the US, probably the reason Moto Guzzi will no longer import that model, but I thought I might share my thoughts concerning the OEM bar and the replacement. This isn't just an alternative but is a big improvement upon the standard handlebar.
I purchased the Aprilia Tuono bar a year ago with all the intentions of mounting it but never got around to it and ultimately became comfortable with the standard set-up. I even had the Tuono bar powder-coated as it has a flat gold finish that just didn't look right. The swap was straight-forward. The control cables are the correct length and the bars are already tapped to accept the Guzzi bar ends. I had to drill one new locating hole on the left side for the turn indicators to move them slightly so they would not hit the fuel tank with the bars at full left lock.
What a difference; what a positive difference. It just feels right. If you have a Sport, do it; you will not regret it.
