need to get some luggage for my griso. only had it a couple af months and the weather has been typically british, but going for a weekend away and need to carry waterproofs etc, like the look of guzzi tank bag is it any good.

Have yet to use it in anything approaching "British weather" -- and hope I never do!

But, I have the "small" version and find it functions well. Easy to mount, pull up for fueling, remove for security, and stable.

YMMV, of course, but I like it.

Best,

Bill

FAMSA also do a good range of Guzzi tank bags.

My large tank bag with the rain cover, on my Griso withstood 14 hrs in the rain last year things around the zip got a little damp but nothing like as wet as i was.

I have the large tank bag. Only problem so far is that one of the shoulder straps has started to tear at the top seam after light use. Luckily I don't use that feature much.

I have one of the big genuine Guzzi tank bags. It's big....bigger than any other tank bag I've ever had. It's easy to re-fuel....just unzip and let it hang back on the seat. When long distance touring (on overnight ferries etc) I use it as an overnight bag & leave my other luggage on the bike. BUT it does make the reach to the bars a bit awkward...nothing you can't get used to, just a bit clumsy. I never thought I'd buy one at full factory price & only got mine because it was cheap on Ebay and close enough to collect....but I have no regrets and wouldn't be without it when I need maximum capacity.

Why use anything else :S , they are made to fit the tank ;) I got 6 years good service out of mine with no problems. It's the best tank bag I've ever had.

I have no need for a tank bag, but for those that do: how do you keep the tank surface from being marred by a loaded bag moving ever so slightly above it with dirt and grit getting underneath?

The genuine Guzzi tank bags have a base which is firmly strapped to the tank so in theory it shouldn't move & scratch the tank.....however to be on the safe side I use a bit of soft non-slip mesh as extra protection. On my Le Mans I had a magnetic tank bag and used a bit of chamois leather.

I wish I didn't "need" a tankbag, either, but the rascals are amazingly useful. I only use one on longer trips, where they come in very handy.

Ever since I managed to pick up, at a gas stop, a staple with the (surprisingly powerful) magnets on an early Guzzi tankbag/backback combo for my EV, I have been careful (possibly OC! ) about tank damage. Since then, I use a microfiber cloth under them.

My small Guzzi tank bag came with a plastic film precut to the shape of the mounting harness. This goes between the harness and the tank and seems to be doing the job of preventing scratches.
