Did a little research and it looks like a 24mm socket for the crank bolt. The service manual gives it at 25mm. Anyone know for sure.

Also what type of plug boot plyers to use. Looks like they need to be really small to fit into the openings.

It's 24mm for the Custom, I can't imagine the Audace being any different.

I don't know why you would need pliers to remove the spark plug boots (if this is what you are talking about). I think I just lifted mine up with a couple of small screwdrivers. Be careful not to wrench on the cable.

Hey Johnap - have you looked to see if the Crank bolt is accessible on the Audace. On my 2016 model, there is so much euro 4 emissions stuff in front that has to be moved/removed that I gave up that approach and now jack and rotate the rear wheel in 5 or 6th gear. Also, when removing the plug boots, twists them left/right a few time to break the seal before pulling up

Hi
Yes I removed the front guard and too much Euro 4 stuff. I will have to get a lift of some sort to get the rear wheel up.

So I realize these bike make a lot of valve noise. On my bike the rt side sound about right. But the lt side has quite noticable clatter. Is this normal. I have no idea how much noise is acceptable. It runs fine.

What is the risk of running with too much clearance

Whip the valve covers off on both sides and compare the valve clearances. If the are noticely different, the work out which side if any is correct. Fix the incorrect side(s).

Excessive clearance can cause a decrease in performance, and accelerated valve train wear.

Valves are set now and in spec. Still have the tick from the left side. I have gone over every bolt and clamp on the exhaust. Very frustrating. Perhaps a small leak somewhere. Or. Something unrelated to exhaust that is loose.
