Axone

It's the hand held computer thingumy which is used to check all the electronics on the new bikes, ECU, ABS, etc, and to reset the TPS, and download new fuel maps.

What is the difference between the Axone and the VDSTS?

The VDSTS (by Techno Research) requires you to supply a computer, and it cannot download new maps into the ECU. But on the other hand, Axone cannot adjust trim (I'm told) and the VDSTS can. Other than those differences, functionally the same.

Cost of VDSTS (Centurion) Pro is about $860 USD, The Axone, is about $3K USD. See https://www.guzzitech.com/store/TR-VDSTS.html for Todd's pricing on singe ECU (much less) and All Marelli ECU versions of Techno Tesearch software..

Hello:

There is another very important difference between the Axone and VDSTS...

The Axone is the 'official' service device for all Moto Guzzi, Aprilia and Piaggio vehicles. As such it is support by the factory with maintenance patches, upgrades and fixes for all bikes as delivered Piaggio. So.. in theory, a new map for your bike may be developed by engineering, and distributed by tech support and delivered to dealers through updates to the Axone device. In that way it can be loaded onto your bike.

The VDSTS has no such capability.

That said, updates and patches have been few and far between so perhaps from a practical sence there is no difference.
