Ran the bike for a few minutes while doing the TB balance etc. Had a dust sheet over the screen, which may have also covered the headlight.
Now the headlight is suffering from cataracts.

Don't feel too bad Brian,
It adds some of that famous "character"!!
It does look better on a red bike....

I was trying to adjust my headlights and "stupidly" covered one side with a washcloth, as I adjusted the other

Not just me then, not that it helps.
How valuable? Well in the UK a replacement headlight costs about 450 UKP, so I guess that will be in the region of 700 USD.

At this point I'm not thinking of replacing it. I may just keep a lookout for a used one.
I did ride it at night since the "meltdown" and have not seen a problem with it. Actually the headlight output on the Norge is the best of all my bikes.

Too bad you're not in the USA. I actually have a spare one that I was experimenting on installing a FLIR camera in. I cut a 3" hole in the thing that would be hidden under a stock fairing. That pretty much destroys the weather proof nature of the thing though. There would be some work necessary to make it a sealed assembly again. Essentially, its value is close to nil except that it has the light bulbs in it as well. If someone is interested in it for a really nominal price + shipping, PM me.

I don't get it. Why did covering the lense cause this problem - in case I do the same on my Stelvio?
