Bummer about your mishap. Was this the Pit Bull stand that is supposed to be specifically for the V7 or was it different Pit Bull stand? I'm curious because I was considering the PB stand but maybe now I'll look elsewhere.

Yes it's the one specifically for the V7.

I'm not trying to deter anyone from getting one, and maybe certain precautions can be made to not have what happened to me, happen to others.

It's just not a simple "align and push down to lift." It seems to want to shift sometimes.

I think I'm going to experiment with aligning the scoops perfectly, and then putting some sort of stopper (piece of wood, etc.) to butt up against the frame to stop the scoops from shifting to the left.

I'm sure it can be modified to make it right.

The need for a rear stand will become even more acute when the new V7 II bikes arrive, because with their wet alternator it won't be possible (or maybe just very difficult) to pop the alternator cover and use the front alternator nut to turn the engine when adjusting the valves. So, the rear wheel must be lifted. And since these bikes don't come with center stands, a rear lift will be a near necessity. Let's hope that Pit Bull or some other manufacturer comes up with a design that's less threatening to side stands.

FWIW, I never had much luck with an early Pit Bull paddock stand on my V7 Racer (or Cafe when I had that. I don't have either now).

The wet alternator wasn't mentioned in the preview of the V7 II bikes because the European V7s have already had them for the past year. These are just beginning to arrive in the US, where they are marketed as '15 models. I saw one a couple of weeks ago at the IMOC meet in Sturbridge, MA. My dealer told me that the brand new V7 II bikes will be marketed as '16 models when they eventually arrive here in the last quarter of 2015 (about a year from now, bummer).
