The line that runs from the shock to the canister prevents installation of the bracket for for mounting the leather guzzi bags I purchased. How did you solve the problem? New shock with no canister/line? Rotate the line inward to clear the bracket? Kinda pissed that there was no mention of this prior to purchase.

I installed the factory fiberglass bags on my Custom and helped a guy install leather covered factory bags on his Custom. No clearance problem on either one. The reservoir canister mounts to a stud on the inside of the passenger foot peg bracket. Do not disconnect the canister as it is pressurized. Remove the nut from the stud and rotate the canister out of the way. Slide the saddlebag bracket over that stud, then the canister bracket. Secure with the nut. Everything should fit. I have additional installation tips if you're interested.

Which bags are we talking about here? I fitted Hepco & Becker C-Mounts to my Custom, the only issue I had is that they didn't expect the rear luggage rack to be present as well. A quick removal of about 20mm to the C-mount brackets, and all is well.

Dave, I'm mounting H&B bags on my Cali Custom next week and I too have the MG rear luggage rack installed. I haven't seen the mounting brackets yet and trying to visualize your mod. Do you have a pic that might help me picture where you removed the 20mm and how the c-bow brackets look look mounted with the luggage rack?

Cheers,
Dan

Sorry, the brackets aren't currently on the bike. From memory, it was where the bracket bolted on to the rear one of the two hex spacers installed with the luggage rack that had to have some meat removed. I cut as much as I could, and it seems to go on OK. You'll need some longer bolts too.

I would have thought that because it didn't reach the frame, the luggage bracket would be sitting a bit low at the rear. However, the photo below doesn't seem to support this thinking. BTW, these are the Nevada bags.

Here's a pix of the brackets without the bags on my other Cali 1400. Doesn't really show that much detail that you're looking for.

Ah, ok thanks. I'll wait 'til the bags arrive and see what I can do.

Cheers.

That shorter hex may come with either the rack or bags. I think the rack. When I installed the rack on my Tour I had to remove one and replace it with another if we are discussing the same piece. I just don't remember the order.
