Ok. So I'm seeing a lot of the T series on the Web with the battery hidden below the frame. Anyone know what size / brand / type of battery is being used and where to buy the mount ? I can fabricate the mount if needed but I'm limited in time so I'd like to buy instead. Thanks, Trout

As a guess, most are likely using a variant of the Odyssey PC925 that is the replacement for V11 Sports and a few others.

I'd definitely use an Odyssey battery for that type of application, but the 925 is a big heavy lump. I'd use the 680 (big enough for BMWs) and 10 pounds lighter. Also you can orient the odyssey in any direction so you could lay it up flat under the transmission. It just might be in the way when changing the transmission oil. As for the box, you could probably adapt an ammo can from a surplus store to fit the 680 quite easily. I've not seen any battery boxes available off the shelf.

Thanks John. Trout, I can get you a AGM generic equivalent for ~$125 shipped within the U.S.

You can get away with a much smaller battery (ie. the 680) if you have the Valeo or nippondenso geared starters (http://www.Euromotoelectrics.com/). Between the starter and battery you can save I don't know 15-25lb?

The bosch really does need the spec'd 29Ah battery to turn it over. Also run the starter relay directly to the battery instead of the convoluted route via the ignition switch. And yes you will have to bend some tin to get something elegant.

Or you can use this one I know of http://www.motoelekt.com/guzzistarter.htm These are excellent as well.

I use a PC685. I've no problems using it on my LM Lightweight.

Note there are 2 places to low-mount a battery box. 1) Directly underneath the gearbox, or 2) Below, but to the rear of the gearbox. The former has the disadvantage that the battery must be removed when draining gearbox oil and muffler cross-over cannot be used. The latter has the disadvantage of eliminating the center stand and moving the CofG to the rear.
