Hopped off my Bella today after a half hour ride and noticed the silencers were drooping sadly. Examination showed the two 8mm Allen screws that hold the bracket and pillion footpeg had taken leave. Bikes done only 5000 km: had checked every bolt on the machine only two weeks ago, either there's a sneaky bolt thief lurking nearby or vibration has had its fun. Managed to get some stainless steel 8mm x 25mm replacement screws that do the job nicely. Think I'll glue 'em in with Loctite and locknuts when I fit my new top and pannier racks in the near future. Had I been on a longer ride I may well have been retracing steps to try to find expensive silencers most likely squashed flat by following traffic!
There's quite a bit of weight cantilevered behind those two screws, vibration effect may be amplified causing a self-eject effect on the screws. Question is...has this happened to any other Bellagio (or other M.G.) owners?
