What a week!

My buddies got there Wednesday and Thursday but I can't stand the lines then so we got there Sunday afternoon.

Got 1 run in Sunday ... about 119 MPH or so. 3.6 hr wait in line. UGH

Monday got in best run. 124.02 on a 123.9 record. Unfortunately it was after the end of the 3 mile course so doesn't count.

Missed 3rd AND 5th. Gotta get the gear box to someone who knows these transmissions. My ham-fisting the gearbox is interfering with the runs.

The trans probs re-appeard in all further runs so I pulled the plug Wednesday and we went home. Drove straight through from Bonneville to San Jose.... arrived 3 AM. Will try not to do THAT again.

If I can get the trans sorted out.... and the carbs improved a bit we should make it to Word Finals in Oct 2010.

Whoooooooooooooeeeeeeeee

Great story, great post-run analysis, and great photos! But for the life of me, why anyone would want to take their pride and joy and smear salt all over it is beyond me. I've spent 34+ years trying to keep corrosion away from my bike, and some people splash it on like sun screen!

People sure do odd things (IMHO). The people that took a beautiful Ferrari Enzo, gutted it, installed a cage, and ran it on the salt for example. In my case I started with a rusted basket case ... and will probably end up with one.

Oh Well.. it keeps me out of the bars (a bit).

Alex, awesome post and pics! Keep them coming, and best to you in the near future with your LSR.

IMO, playing in the salt is driven by pure passion. Watch "The World's Fastest Indian" if you haven't... Even if it was Hollywood-ized, it's still gives the answer to the why.
