Brembo Rectangular Master Cylinder Interference

Damn - One thing after another for us unexperienced. I converted my triple clamp to eliminate the bars on my G5. Fit Tarozzi 70 mm rise clip ons. After no response from Fred at Yoyodyne to the quesiton about fit issues, I impulsively ordered a rectangular clutch master cylinder. (I got the brake MC earlier thrown in with my Brembo 4 pot calipers).

Both the brake and clutch master cylinders interfere with the Tarozzi clip on bar holder. I need to move the reservoir about 1/8" away from the bar (see pink arrow in photo). Grinding won't do enough unless I'm prepared to go through the reservoir window which would be a messy affair.

Surely others have plowed this row before. Is there a simple way out? Should I return the MC's for a different version, fabricate an adapter, or what? I recognize others may have a preference for the remote reservoir MC's for performance and fit reasons, but I'd rather had my heart set on these...

  OK here goes a poss solution

If you need to push the M/C out from the bar to get clearance try to fabricate an insert that fits inside of the bar clamp (on the M/C side). You could try using 20mmx3mm Alu flat and using longer bolts. It would end up being cresent moon shaped insert. Practice using you obsolete bar mouts as you dont need 'em or cut them down to do the job :) :)

If you can give me the OD of the bars, and the width of the clamp, i can make you an insert to use. You said you wanted to offset it by 1/8"? Ill happily do it for the cost of shipping.

the problem with cutting your old bars is, of course, the ID is smaller than the OD, and if used as a spacer, will flex to fit the OD of your bars, but then will not properly fit in your MC clamp, because the dia will then be too big

Thanks to both of you. This had been my plan (fabricate a spacer and extend the bolts), unless someone am up with a big "ah-ha".

Spaceclam - I would love to take you up on your offer, this is perhaps the most generaous offer I've seen on a Guzzi board! Beats the heck out of liquid steel and a file....

I will confirm the required offset and spacer length tonight and PM you. The Tarrozi bars are variously described as 22 mm or 7/8" (which is actuallly 22.2). For a part this small and made from alu or stainless, the extra "0.2mm" probably doesn't matter much and is likely within my measurement error.

Please check for a PM - and thanks. Let me know if you're anywhere near the Bay Area CA...
