Hi.

Can any one help me with a fault in the indicators on a 2005 1100 Breva. Every thing is normal until I put the right side indicator on, at this point it flashers at twice the normal speed and the warning light comes on, also a bulb appears on the screen with a X through it and an arrow pointing to the right side.

I have checked the bulbs and changed them side to side cleaned them and there mating surface, also went back to the first 2 pin connectors cleaned them and checked the resistance back to the bulbs, all the same both side.

It gets a bit tricky from here as the wiring heads off into the harness, I wonder if this may be a problem with the dash?

Is there a removable flasher unit in the dash or is it all in the circuitry?

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks jim.

Jim,

All the control for flashing is in the dash. There is no replaceable flasher. You said you have changed bulbs side to side. If so, it does sound like a dash problem. First I would check and clean the connector at the dash. It may not fix the issue but is worth a try.

A little off-topic, and probably a dumb question, but will ask anyway; would LED bulbs work on a Breva, or would it cause a fault because of a lack of sufficient resistance?

If you mean the 750 Breva take a look at the schematic. Its signals are also controlled by the dash. That means it would have the same issues as the 1100 Breva.

Thanks Dave, I have done that, and thanks john, I did pull the plug at the dash and clear it, I might have another go and see if I can find the pin for the indicators either side and check resistance back to the bulb in case there is a grubby connection in the line, I doubt it though, I suspected the dash from the start but hoped I was just being a bit negative.

The dash is a bit ordinary in so much that it has 4 black dots strategically placed about it which makes for a bit of guess work if I want to know the time or the temperature. regards jim.
