Trying to unclip the loom from the ECU behind the steering head. Removed the 2 ECU bolts but the loom enters the ECU left and right side and the connector lock mechanism is not easy to understand. Can't undo the connectors to clean them and the earth underneath. Any tips to gettting the connectors undone. The bike died with ECU error and a disconnected plug symbol.

Yeah the connectors "pivot". Get a good flashlight and look at the back of the connector with the flash light, you should see a small tab that you can push it to swing the connector off. But flashlight and identifying the small tab is kinda important.

Thank guys. Once I prised the pivot locks the connectors sprung apart. Got the ECU out check the earth wire underneath with meter good earth. Getting the connectors back together is murder. Can't get them to push together. I have the ECU the right way round threads to the top earth underneath back. the plastic pivot locks can be popped off. thought the connectors should mate then pop on the pivot lock. Can't get the male/female to engage. What a bad design. Have clear assess to the left connector on the loom because I snipped tie wraps. Hold ECU connects facing front Offer up rear facing loom connector. Cant get them to engage don't want to force incase I bend pins. Putting the pivot lock on doesn't seem to help my small brain can't figure out this shit connector.

Hello GT-RX, the pictures u reference are excellent they confirm that the pivot locks are on the plug end correctly and that in the unlocked position they engage on the lugs of the other connector thereby pulling the 2 halves together as u pivot the clamp. My problem is getting the 2 halves to engage such that the pivot clamp can engage the lugs and pull together. U'd have though carefully lifting the pivot lock off completely would allow u to push the halves together but not with normal pressure the engagement is so loose one worries about pin misalighment. How do you closethe 2 halves. I can e-mail a picture of me trying to do it so an expert can check orentation. Please help guys, share your experience try to mate this connector.

Got it figured out had one plug 180 deg out doh. Still an absolute bitch of a design
