On my 2007 Breva ie 750 motor which will now idle, but poorly, the left cylinder would be at a temperature of 125 F and the right cylinder will be at 550 F. There's not as much backfiring as there used to be. Does anyone know why this would be the case?
Thanks,

My guess is a clogged fuel injector or pinched/blocked fuel line to that side.

Pull the plugs to see if the hot side is running lean.

Poor idle, but ok running at speed, is one sign of an intake air leak. This would lean out the fuel mix, and make that side run hot. A common problem for Guzzi 750s is the joint between the head and the metal intake manifold. It's easy for parts to rub against each other, and not allow for an airtight seal. You can check by having the bike idle, and spraying a little carb cleaner at the joint. If the idle rpm changes, then there's the leak.

As GT-Rx said, clogged fuel injectors are possible. I've had them cleaned and tested by RC Eng. of Calif. and was very happy with their work. http://www.rceng.com/Fuel-Injector-Cleaning-P43C0.aspx

Hi,
Yes my bike ran badly and the efi light would come on intermittantly. The dealer found no fault codes which is suprising. Some time later the coil failed completely and the bike ran on one cylinder. I tried to keep riding to get home but that ruined one exhaust (due to excess heat I presume) as one exhaust went completely blue. This time there was a fault code indicating a failed coil. This of course may not be your problem but worth considering?

Colin,
Sorry about losing your exhaust. Yea, with intermittent electrical faults sometimes the only choice is to run it until it fails, and then you can find the fault.

i had similar problem and found it was the engine temp switch and holder in cylinder head
