I read a posting re Helibars and thought I need them on my Norge being vertically challenged (5' 6").
Even though they are a little expensive I attempted to order a set on line, but they don't mail to Oz. I contacted Helibars and they advised there is an agent in Oz that you must buy through. That is Ron Hone in Melbourne, great I live in Newcastle, anyway I contacted Ron.
I have now installed the bars about 3 weeks later and rode the bike for the first time at the weekend. Thanks to Ron for the great service, they sent them overnight to Newy from Melbourne as soon as they arrived from the USA.
My first impression was this feels great, my second, and final impression was I should have done this sooner they have changed the way I feel on the bike. My low speed control is fantastic, no more wobbling about when coming to a stop. I can now comfortably turn full lock when pulling out from the kerb and maintain full clutch control whilst looking over my shoulder for on coming traffic. When out on the twisty bits I can dip it in to corners so much easier than before and feel heaps more comfortable doing it. Its a brand new bike to me those bars are the best thing I have bought for for the Norge. My advise to shorties out there is to buy a set you wont look back, you can always come and try mine before you invest in them if you like.
Two bad things but, my wife still has little naps on the back, I now have no excuse and need to go harder, and my tank bag needs to make way for a narrower one, but does it really matter if I loose both of them?

I think that the bars from the new 8 valve Norge will also fit the older model, and will give a similar riding position to the Helibars, though the Helibars are narrower.
Disadvantage of the helibars is that you can't remove the inner fairing to get at the back of the headlight without removing the bars.

Has anybody confirmed this? I suspect that replacement bars from MG are outrageously expensive but it may be worth exploring.

    Thanks

    Hi all

I finally fitted Helibars to the Norge a few weeks ago. Definitely a more comfortable riding position but not wildly different. Installation was pretty straight forward although access to the underside bolts was a bit difficult with the fairing still attached.

One negative is that my little Guzzi bar bag doesn't fit between the bars any more. :( Bit of a bummer 'cos it was very useful and not cheap!

    Cheers

I've discovered another issue with the Helibars - the rear tab on the steering stem cover doesn't engage properly so there is nothing holding the rear down. Kind of hard to explain if you haven't removed the cover before but it is held down by a tab at the rear and two bolts at the about 10 and 2 o'clock. The bases on the helibars seem to be a little thicker stopping the tab from seating correctly.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Cheers

I priced the replacement for my 08 the new taller bars are $120.00 each cheaper than the Helis and look better I think.
Harpers show them available to order Talk to them.

    Hi Guys,
Has anyone fitted the MG 8V Norge bars to a 4V Norge?
    - Any problems with cables etc?
    - Would they pull the bars back enough to allow Stelvio hand guards to be fitted so they clear the fairing?
    Thanks
    AndyB
