Good Morning all:

I have been putting the break-in miles on my new left over 06 Breva slowly put steadily. Since this machine doesn't sound like a cement mixer with a load of rocks when in neutral, I assume it has a wet clutch. If this is so, this is where my question comes in, and no it isn't an oil thread. ( it just may be that I am too lazy to look it up right now.)

When I start my own oil changes I plan on using Red Line 10W60 in the crank case. My question is about the transmission and final drive. I used Red Line gear oils in the trans and final drive on my Stone with good results. Is there anyone using Red Line in those applications in a 1100 Breva or Norge? If so let me know what your using. ( I am probably being a little paranoid,.....new toy and all  ) Anyway any info is appreciated.

I find the Breva to be a totally different experience than that of the Stone. I think the only thing that is actually similar is the power train configuration. Other than that, this machine is smoother, much quicker and faster, and like the Stone still handles better than I do.

I am still a little clumsy with the details, like the left hand switch gear is in a little different position, so my muscle memory isn't there yet. Each day is better.

I am in the process of looking into a fairing/windshield and may be looking into the Buell or M.I. foot pegs and bar risers.

So far so good, now if we can just work through my gear oil paranoia.......

Thanks in advance

kjf

The 1100 Breva has a dry clutch. The oil you use will not impact the clutch. Redline products will be fine for all your applications. Pull the rubber plug on the right side of the transmission case and look at the flywheel. If it looks like your stone, you have the two plate clutch. If you see odd looking stuff, you have one of the single clutch plate bikes. Some of the 2006 Brevas did come from the factory with a single plate. I had one of them.

Use a well known brand of tranny oil and make sure it matches Guzzi specs.
I always use Castrol but not sure what's avialable in the States.

Gear oil, I've been using Mobil 1 75W90 with what I believe are good results in my bikes for years.
