For various reasons I got a Breva topbox with my Norge rather than the Norge one.

The minor niggle is that it uses a different key. I don't suppose the lock from a Norge box can be fitted to the Breva box?

Also, it's obviously a rebadged Givi, does a smaller Givi fit the same rack/pad/fittings?

Givi have two styles, Monolock & Monokey. They are not interchangable.

Easiest way is to go to a Givi dealer and try something. You'll soon work out which style fits. Personally, I prefer the Monolock, but you won't have a choice.

Don't think you'll be able to get the one key to do both. If some locksmith can come up with a miracle, be sure to post the results here.

Givi keys are very different to Guzzi keys, so there is no chance of having one key for all.
The good news is that the box will probably stay on the bike.

I didn't ask about the key, but the lock.

Are the locks different sizes?

So the Norge topbox is a Monokey and the Breva a Monolock or vice versa? Hard to tell from the pictures. Almost no one locally seems to have them in stock for a stickybeak.

No, the Norge box is a Guzzi item, the one on the Breva is a Givi item.
The Guzzi key is about twice the length of the Givi key, so the lock must also differ in size in the same way. Thus I would be almost certain that you would not be able to put the Guzzi lock in the Givi case.

Hmm. length.

Where there's a will there's a way of course, probably involving a dremel. Any idea about the differences in diameter?

I suppose what I really need is to see a Norge box and investigate the mechanisms. I'm now feeling challenged :)

Even with givi replacements the box mounting plates are usually different hence you need a plate with a replacement box. I replaced my Motoguzzi topbox because the lock bust. I used a GIVI simply E42 and swapped the mounting plates over. Here's a pic of my fat bottomed girl with a box not to big, not to small and not expensive like MG.

Yes, the locks are very different, as are the keys. I have exactly the same setup as you on my Norge. The spare lockset for the Norge bag doesn't even look close. If having them all keyed alike is important to you, you would need to go with the Guzzi trunk.

John Henry
