Breva V 1100 fork spring dimensions?

Can anyone please tell me the dimensions of the original fork springs for a 2005 Breva?

I'm about to have the forks upgraded and need to know the spring dimensions so that the Ohlins man can sort out some suitable replacements. I already have the spacer dimensions - The plastic spacer tubes measure 38mmOD x 32mmID x 204mm long.

If no one can supply the spring dimensions I'll have to pull a spring and measure it but I'd rather avoid oily hands if possible.

Where are all the guys who upgraded to HyperPro springs? Someone must have the stock springs laying around.

Thanks for your support NeroGuzzi. It seems that no one has a spring to measure or can't be bothered measuring one if they do. Never mind, I'm used to being self reliant, but the lack of response to this one does surprise me.

Looks like it's oily hands here today. Because I don't want to do a full oil change only three weeks from the suspension upgrade I plan to pull both springs, wipe them and add 20cc of oil to each leg to compensate.

In due course I may post about the upgrade - I'll be involved and present in the shop where the work is to be done and where there is a suspension dyno - but then again I may not bother to post.

Graham, wish I could be of help... I personally haven't done any B11's, only Norge(s), which I'm sure they are different due to the fork type and pre-load cap. I haven't done any 1200 Sports yet either. State the data here if you would.

OK, with not particularly oily hands, here are the critical dimensions of a Breva V 1100 springs:

Fork spring dimensions:
OA length - 282mm
OA diam at top - 32mm - fitting into a 33mm ID shallow recess in the alloy top plug.
OA diam at bottom and for 160mm - 38mm - fitting onto PVC spacer tube 38mm OD x 32mm ID x 204mm long.
Pitch for bottom 160mm - 17mm. Top 222mm is tapering and progressively wound down to 9mm pitch.
Wire dia - 5mm.
Stanchion ID - 39.5mm

Note
You can't remove a fork leg top plug without removing the handlebar away from the leg top because the plug comes up under a recess in the underside of the 'bar riser casting. Worth noting for anyone wanting to change the fork oil using the wrong method!

Graham

For what it's worth, the part number for the spring in the Breva 1100 is 05526630 and the part number for the spring in the Norge 1200 is - you've guessed - 05526630.

IMHO yes. Unladen sag figures are a bit more than ideal, suggesting that the springs are a bit soft. They're also progressive, which based on Ohlins thinking is a no-no because it confuses the damping. The upgrade I'm having done will include damping emulators, new springs and a different oil grade/quantity.

The rear unladen sag figures suggest that the spring is OK for the weight of a Breva. Not progressive either! The upgrade I'm having done will include damping changes primarily but not a new spring.

The man doing the work is the NZ Ohlins guru in whom I have complete confidence. (Robert Taylor at Crown Kiwi Technical.)
