Hey guys,

New to the forum. I was riding my 2016 V7 Stone on a long trip and had a flickering oil light come on during acceleration while I was in the middle of nowhere. When I got to town I filled her up with oil but the next day I only made it a few hundred feet before there was a loud ting sound coming from the engine and a loss of power.

My mechanic flushed the oil and found quite a bit of metal - he's guessing the big end bearing is shot on the crankshaft at least. I've been quoted at $3000 for an engine rebuild, or $2000 for a used engine from eBay (excluding labour). I bought the bike for $4400 with 22,000kms on it.

I live in Vancouver, BC - I was wondering if you guys think I should part out the bike or try and sell it as is, and what that might be worth.

Thanks for any help.

It might be worth paying remove the motor and have them check to see if it has the crank end bearings in place. If it does, part it out. I imagine you can replace it with a newer version V7 for about the same CAN$ I might wager. The V7 III is a big step up.

Please add your VIN and engine #.
