Just got it firing!
Hello to all fellow Guzzi people
I have the chance to acquire a C.A.R.C. final rear drive unit and as we all know there has been a recall campaign of this piece.
I would like to check if it's not an item that has been concerned by that recall that happened back around 2006.
According to the Guzzi recall campaign C.A.R.C. units prior to unit number 003171 were concerned. The cardan number is given under the rubber boot.
Well, on the unit offered for sale, there is a unit number composed of 11 numbers;
first line is 642377
and then underneath 01716
So if the Guzzi recall campaign says 003171 does this regard the first line or the second line? In fact if Guzzi had communicatd 03171 instead of 003171 I would have no doubts that the item for sale is a unit that has been off a bike concerned in the recall campaign.
But for example if I put together the first six and second 5 digits = 64237701716 and then take the last six digits then I have 701716 which would be okay compared to the 003171 communicated by Guzzi.
If someone can clear me up that would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Tom
ps1: (on the photo attached you can see the 5 digit number)
ps2: the history of the piece is uncertain. It comes from the shelves of former Guzzi dealer and he can't recall exactly what happened. Anyway, the piece is cheap but still would not like to buy crap. However if it turns out to be a unit concerned on the recall campaign and therefore changed for precaution - then it could still be an excellent piece that only needs new bearings.
