I cut off my plug caps due to the conventional wisdom that they would fail sooner or later. I used the NGK SB05E caps. As of right now I might be regretting it. The wires wind up just a tad short and pull in such a way as to open up the boot on the top of one of the caps making a little cup for moisture to collect. There's no longer the compression seal offered by the flexible boot.
Not a big deal really considering plug wire is about $1 a foot. What's bothering me is choosing what coil caps to buy. I know I need 90 degree to suit 7mm wire. I see a vise driven crimp tool is fairly cheap. But I cant seem to find a brass plug that looks just like the OEM. The Guzzi plug has a small wire running across to help retain it on the pin that is on the coil. Also I found plug boots that are either 9/16 or 11/16 at the coil. The OEM is 5/8.
Has anyone been down this road that can steer me to the proper coil plugs. I see splices available but don't like that idea unless it's a last resort. That seems unlikely.
