CARC leak, not the usual suspects

Gear oil is dripping off the lowest / furthest back brake line clip, the one at the bottom of the CARC in a blind hole (not one of the through holes on the swingarm). There is no sign of leaking from the main seal where the wheel bolts up. No oil in the swingarm and no sign of leaking on the swingarm itself(a little slung grease from the u-joints, but definitely no gear oil). The CARC seal at the swingarm end looks OK, it was reinstalled with a little RTV but since there was no oil in the swingarm, this was not really going to be the source. Vent is clear.

I know that last clip is supposed to be a blind hole, but I've cleaned and monitored this leak several times and it sure looks like it's coming from the hole. Doubtful, but I don't know where else to look. I keep the bike clean and the CARC in particular now, but I just can't find any sign of a leak and oil running down to this lowest clip.

Thanks for any tips.

It may be the casting has become or is porous. The only way I know to stop the leak would be to coat the hole with an epoxy. Remove the carc and thoroughly clean the hole. Let it dry and apply a thin epoxy coating. If thin enough, you may be able to reinstall the clip. The other way to seal the CARC would be to split the cases and coat the interior surface with epoxy. This had to be done on some rear drives on bikes in the 80s as may castings from that era were porous. (I had one of them).

My CARC was leaking from new. The dowells which position both halves were not aligned when the cases were (bashed) together causing a figure 8 hole and a small burr. A file and a reseal and 130.000k later stil no problems

After looking much closer (many times) over the last week, there may be some weeping from the seam of the two CARC halves as Guz5 mentions.

It's still under warranty, so off to MPH, hopefully for an in-shop fix and not waiting for parts.

MPH found the source and fixed the leak.

The blind hole for the lowest clip on the bottom of the CARC was indeed leaking. Larry and Mike drained and removed the CARC, pressurized it with smoke, and confirmed porosity in the casting at that hole. Mike was pretty certain it was not drilled too deep but rather seeping through the casting there.

They filled the blind hole with epoxy (I assume like JB Weld) and redrilled the blind hole for the clip. Leak fixed! Mike said he had never seen this before, just something for CARC owners to file away as a possibility.
