Carc output bearing

Hi folks, I recently replaced my carc output seal with your help. Now I'm replacing the tyre and notice obvious notcyness as you spin the wheel to the point where you can stop the wheel on the bad spot and hear the clicking as you push the wheel forward and back. first you think is it just backlash but it never made these noises before. Bottom line is I guess I should have replaced the output bearing with the seal. I checked my carc number and it was replace under the recall. You'd of though a bearing would last more than 30000m. If I wait and let it develop, if the bearing is failing will it trash the whole carc. There seems no side play on the wheel. How do ya change the bearing? remove the seal then just pull it out with brute force and bearing pullers through the same opening? Then drive the new bearing in carefully using the old one as a drift?

Think about my Carc bearing problem a bit more and I think it might be down to a crash a the end of last year when a car driver rear ended the bike (not me). The impact v indented his bumper considerably. I think this has probably flat spotted the bearings. So I guess I should be changing more than one??? What other bearing should be changed given a hard impact from behaind?
 
here some pics. the cops let the driver off. I complained about them pointing out that it was driving with out due care and attention he crossed a solid white line and cut the cheveron corner to nail me. They lied, I complained to the IPCC who ignored evidence and put the contradictory police statements down as human error.

Feel sorry for you mate ,bloody typical of the cops,thats the sort of attitude the law had back in the 80's regarding motorcyclists i thought things had changed,obviously not!.

Sorry, I missed this.

To replace the bearing you need to split the CARC. The bearing pushes out from the *outside* into the casing.

Remove the clips around the boot and around the pinion and peel the boots up and forward, undo all the bolts holding the CARC halves togetehr and then use a hide hammer to smite the bit the wheel bolts too and the case will start to move. Once is is separated about a cm or so uou can get some hardwood slats in and finish off by pressing it apart or simply wriggle and smite until the case comes off.

Once the case is off the bearing can be pressed out, use a butane torch to heat the case as you press and refrigerate the new bearing. When the case is good and hot drop the new, refigerated, bearing into the case and press it back in using the old bearing with a bit of wood as a driver across it to prevent the inner race getting side loadings as it is pressed home.

Re-assemble the case onto the rest of the CARC using Threebond, Yamabond, Hondabond on the joining faces NOT SILASTIC!

Re-install the boots and clips, re-install on bike fill with 'erl, go ride, look for leaks, check level regularly in case 'erl is weeping past the front boot into the swingarm.
