anyone got any top tips to remove the brown carc seal around the hub on the wheel side of the carc. Folks say the seal outdia 110 inner dia 85 can be levered out with a screw driver. I've tried and failed. Might have to resort to a bit of seal butchery to get it out buit worried about marking the carc around it. why am I changing it?, the carc is leaky a common occurence.

It was more obvious when I got a new seal and could see how deep it was. I tried drilling it but when I got in to metal didn't know how deep. The new seal show when you drill through you won't hit any thing for quite some mm. Drilling is the best way. a 3.5 mm hole in the middle of the seal allows you to get a lever in without marking the walls.

I hope that you took a good long hard look at the bearing race witha magnifying glass while the seal was out.

All the CARC seals I've seen go have been accompanied by bearing damage due to the crappy early bearing being used. This included some boxes, (Including mine!) that were outside the recall range.

Thanks for the advice.I'm afraid I couldn't tell a good bearing from a bad. I do spin the wheel and try to wobble it and it feels rock solid. I was surprised with the last dealer who repaired my bike after being rear ended. He left the carc dust seal off saying it wasn't neccessary, that it just scratched the paint work anyway he sent me a new one. My carc was replaced under warranty at PDI. I was able to verfiy this by checking the carc number against the recall on Pexis blog.
