As i am also interested in custom machines, wondered if it was reasonable to swap the breva dashboard for a griso or similar unit?
Tried to find info on the maker of Breva dashboard -digitech i think Pete Roper said awhile back but no info.
Piaggio needs to fit some decent quality clocks.

info and thoughts appreciated

I don't know if the Griso's dash is coded like the Norge's and probably the Breva's but if it is and you come across a used one be careful about buying it. A few months back I picked up a used Norge dash from a totalled Norge on ebay, it was damaged during shipping and I eventually got my money back. But while I was waiting to ship it back I hooked it up to my Norge's wiring and turned on the key. The dash then request I enter a 5 digit code of which there are 100,000 different possible combinations. I was never able to enter the correct code, tried the last five of the totalled bike's VIN, and various other easily remembered combinations to no avail. After doing all kinds of research I was even able to contact the original owner of the bike by email but got nowhere with him. So without that 5 digit code the dash is useless. So before you get a used dash make sure you get the code with it or you are just going to have a nice paperweight.

It was asking for the user code since it didn't recognize the chip in your key. I'm not sure if you could use the maintenance code to add a key if you don't have one of the original (to that dash) keys. It has been suggested (I think by Graham) to also use the maintenance code as your user code to have a number you can easily remember. That may not do much for anti theft, but who wants to steal a Guzzi anyway.

Nope, you can't use the maintenance code until you enter the security code.

Unless all the Norge keys are cut the same and are just coded different, you can't use the key that went with the used replacement dash because you wont be able to turn the power on.

I must have punched in 30 different codes like 11111, 22222, and so on but nothing worked.

After doing some research I found that some shops were using the last 5 digits of the VIN for the security code but when I tried that it didn't work, and Yes I knew what the VIN number was of the bike the dash came from.

I have a spare set of original keys when i bought the bike and there is a small rubber tag supplied on the key ring with a letter and 4 numbers = security code?
Just a thought otherwise i can see when original owners passes on the machine and doesnt tell the code or cant remember it, then i can see a possible pain in the ........

Even when you have a new lock set too. They are priced reasonably i thought at the time for GBP 27 - tank/seat/ignition with 2 new keys.

John and azccj thanks for the words of wisdom, no doubt this is Guzzi attempt or digitech's vehicle imobiliser part of the electronics system. Car electronics/ideas being forced onto 2 wheels?
